I and a few of my colleagues in the flower industry were able to attend a fabulous floral show hosted by Koehler-Dramm Wholesalers in Minneapolis a couple weekends ago. Needless to say, I was in flower heaven. I am so thankful that God has given us such beauty in nature. I am not sure how many times I went in the cooler, which was ENORMOUS by the way, with flowers from all over the world. We felt very privileged to have learned from one of the leading wedding designers in this industry, Holly Heider Chapple of Holly Heider Chapple Flowers, Ltd. I am looking forward to using her techniques in a couple of weeks to design the bouquets for my first wedding for the 2017 season. I will be posting some pictures of the bouquets in April!
One of the difficulties with having an early spring, or late fall wedding is the variability of Wisconsin weather.
We have decided to add radiant heaters to the barn! Although I loved the barn without them, having the stress taken away of weddings
where guests are too cold makes me happier! We hope it will you also. This will also allow us to book April weddings and events,
as well as go into November, and possibly even December.
We will be testing the heaters out this month, as well as into December of 2016. So far, I believe they will do the job.
We will also be adding new white fabric to aide in keeping in the warmth.
A few weeks ago, I attended a wholesale market with the hopes of obtaining a few prop rental items.
Remember, I talked about budget on my last post. Well, yes, sticking to my budget did prove to be a challenge.
Instead of one set of lanterns, I ordered three sets. We have to have variety you know!
Two options were bought for floral arrangements. Rustic tinware seems to be all the rage now, so of course, that had to be included.
Etc., etc., etc. So much for budget! Here are a couple of my finds.
A couple of weekends ago, I was able to attend the Madison Bridal Expo, via invitation of my niece, Katie. She is getting married in my barn this July. I have to admit, I was quite overwhelmed. I only imagined, if I have this feeling, how might someone who is newly engaged feel? She has all of the emotions, desiring to plan the perfect wedding. One thing I gleaned, was definitely have a budget, or things may quickly get carried away! I, myself, was lost in the beautiful dresses, flowers, cakes and gorgeous table settings. With that in mind, I’ve decided to add a page of props with the desire to make at least one more decision easier.I’m looking forward to attending some of the wholesale markets the end of this month.I am guessing I will be overwhelmed by the choice for props, just as many of the newly engaged couples did at the numerous expos held this January in Wisconsin.
I will post some pictures in the future of some of my finds, and try to stick to my budget. Wish me luck!!
